IT CAME FROM FUKUSHIMA Plays 2016 San Francisco Fringe Festival
September 10, 16, 17, and 22
Bill Hyatt's new multimedia comedy about capitalism, science and an irradiated monster!
An Equity-approved project
San Francisco - August 17 2016 - Undefined Symbol Theater Company, in Association with the Playwrights Center of San Francisco will present IT CAME FROM FUKUSHIMA as part of the 16-day San Francisco Fringer Festival, September 9 through 24, 2016.
IT CAME FROM FUKUSHIMA is a multimedia comedy about a down-on-his-luck detective who stumbles on to a conspiracy which can destroy humanity. Blending comedy, live music, video, and puppetry in a mashup of Film Noir, Sci-Fi, and Monster Movie styles, the play tells a tale of fear, greed, hope, and survival. Will San Francisco be destroyed by an improbably sized irradiated monster? Can a cyborg find love? Can the world be saved from nuclear contamination? Is man the most dangerous monster of all?
Written by Bill Hyatt, IT CAME FROM FUKUSHIMA will play at the PianoFight Main Stage (144 Taylor St, San Francisco, CA 94102) on September 10th at 8:30 pm, September 16th at 7:00 pm, September 17th at 5:30 pm, and September 22nd at 8:30 pm.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the San Francisco Fringe Festival brings fresh, daring, exciting theater of all varieties to open-minded audiences of all persuasions. Often over-the-top and under-the-radar of traditional theater, “The Fringe” whose motto is "No Risk, No Art", has its rabid devotees – and wins more fans every year. Most performances run under an hour and Fringe Fans have fun trouping from venue to venue, seeing as many shows as they can in one day.
The 2016 San Francisco Fringe Festival, September 9-24 (every day but Mondays), brings 38 shows to San Francisco’s EXIT Theatreplex, 156 Eddy Street, and to PianoFight, 144 Taylor Street. Both venues are within walking distance of Union Square and the Powell Street BART station.
